We have had the pleasure of entertaining several touring teams from the UK.

This week we have  enjoyed the company of Penarth bowls Club and Sawbridgeworth bowls club. Both of these clubs normally play on grass, so this was a change to play outdoors on our newly fitted artificial green.

When Sawbridgeworth arrived, the coach they travelled on had an issue, where the storage lockers underneath would not open, leaving the majority of bowlers without their bowls or equipment?

As we were playing rinks, most of the Bonalba bowlers had two remaining bowls, and these were loaned out so that the match could proceed.

The players from Sawbridgeworth soon adapted to their loan bowls and competed brilliantly.

Eventually, the coach lockers were opened and the players could play the remaining nine ends with their own equipment.

There was some excellent bowling from both visiting teams, and everyone enjoyed the new green.
